Six Indian tourists killed in jeep accident, five injured

Kathmandu, Jan. 1: Six Indian tourists died when a jeep met with an accident Tuesday night at Chun Pahara in Bandipur-6 of Tanahu district along Prithvi Highway.

Five people have been injured in the accident when the Ga 1 Yan 669 Scorpio jeep heading for Birgunj from Pokhara met with the accident.

 Those who died have been identified as Binaya Tiwari, 58, Hemanta Tripathy, Lawati Tiwari, 56, Punam Tripathy, 33, Neha Tripathy, 20, and Nilam Tripathy, 37, all from Calcutta, said DSP of Tanahu Chakraraj Joshi. Of them, five died on the spot and one while being taken to Kathmandu for treatment.

Injured Ashish Dube, 8, has been sent to Kathmandu for treatment and Rabikant Tiwari, 43, Satendra Dube, 34, Aryan dube, 9, and jeep driver Yubaraj Gurung of Putalibajar-2, Syangja are undergoing treatment at Laxmi Hospital Dumre, police said.
